Hours coverage:

The day's coverage starts with photos of the bride's preparation, and the exact time depends on the bride's arrangements for the day. I stay close to the end of the reception. Sometimes the day's coverage is less than 10 hours, sometimes more. I'd rather not have the hours fixed and be there tapping my wristwatch to indicate that time is up, or whine about going overtime. I'm there to photograph your wedding day, and I want to help your day being an enjoyable one.

Engagement session :

I  include an engagement session as it is a good opportunity to get to know the couple in advance of the wedding and to see how they photograph, in addition to their simply getting nice pictures. The couple also sees how I work, and gets an idea of what to expect of the bridal couple's portrait session on the wedding day.

There is no specific monetary value attached to the engagement session as such.  Doing the engagement session before hand actually makes my job easier and the pictures better on the wedding day.  So while a couple may choose not to have their session I don't discount or substitute anything for it for this reason.

The engagement shoot usually takes place in a local park, or similar venue, a few weeks or months before the date. The engagement shoot will be within a 12 mile radius of Wayne, NJ, otherwise a travel fee will have to be applied.

The high res files of the engagement session will be released with the wedding files, unless purchased earlier. Signing books (using the images from the shoot), can be ordered, and there will also be an online gallery where prints can be ordered.

A second photographer?

I am set up to work as a solo photographer and don't need an assistant. My camera gear and lighting is set up such that I can (and should) work independently from anyone. But at times, a 2nd photographer might be a good idea.

This might be if the couple would specifically like coverage of the groom getting ready at his house, or if the church ceremony is an involved one, or if the bridal party is large. As a rough estimate, I would suggest that if the bridal party has more than 14 people, a second photographer might be necessary if the bride and groom would still like photography with a more candid approach.

Photographing the Formals:

I'm very comfortable with posed photographs. I don't show any of these on my website, since they aren't the most exciting photos to look at, but I can show you examples in my print portfolio. Indoors, I use portable lights with umbrellas that give me studio quality lighting anywhere. Therefore, the formal shots are well lit, and not just done with flash on camera when done indoors. Outdoors I try to use available light, with some flash on camera.

Black & White, and Sepia images:

I normally do change some images to B&W, and a few to sepia and do a few special effects, as part of the set of proofs I give to the bride. Since I shoot digitally, it's a fairly simple matter to change any photograph to B&W for the album or extra prints, or to change any photo back to colour that was proofed as a B&W image.

Table photographs:

I don't normally take table photographs, but will photograph the two head tables on request, but only if the bride and groom are present. There are reasons for this. Firstly, the only time when everyone are seated at a table is usually when dinner is served - which I would then have to interrupt for photos. Many venues frown on this as well, and maitre'd's often stop photographers from doing this. I've also had guests become abusive when asked to get up for a table shot. In addition to all this, the more tables there are, the more daunting the logistics become of trying to get everyone at every table during the evening's proceedings, and still photograph the event.
